About us

Welcome to Westfield School, an independent day school for girls aged 3–18 and boys aged 3–11 in Newcastle.

At Westfield, we believe in the power of a small school to make a big difference. We are proudly independent and deliberately different. From a child’s first steps into school life to the moment they leave us for university, apprenticeship or the world of work, Westfield offers a calm, ambitious and deeply personal education that allows every pupil to grow in confidence, character and curiosity.

We know that no two children are the same and that’s exactly where we begin.

Why Westfield?

A Bright Start,
Built Around Them

In our Junior School, we welcome boys and girls into a setting designed for discovery, kindness and growth.

Through our unique Bright Start approach, children are taught by stage, not age, meaning we meet each child where they are, not where a timetable says they should be.

Small class sizes allow our expert teachers to notice the little things that matter, unlocking confidence early and helping children to thrive in their own time, in their own way.

A Childhood Rich
in Experience

Junior pupils enjoy specialist teaching, creative arts, sport, and languages all within our green, single-site campus. They climb trees, investigate minibeasts, write stories on the sand and build dens in Forest School.

We believe in wonder. In wide horizons. In letting children be children, while laying the strongest of foundations.

A Unique Journey for
Girls Aged 11–18

In our girls-only Senior School, pupils step into a space designed to help them thrive without limits or labels. Here, girls are free to lead, explore, take risks and speak up, not as the exception, but as the expectation.

From Year 7 through to Sixth Form, our pupils benefit from close relationships with staff, personalised academic guidance, and a curriculum that is broad, stretching and relevant. Our all-girls environment gives them confidence and our Round Square values give them purpose.

Sixth Form: Rooted in Care.
Ready for the World

Our Sixth Form offers tailored pathways and outstanding preparation for life beyond school. With a wide range of A-Levels and Diplomas, including some taught in partnership with Newcastle School for Boys, pupils experience the best of both: specialist teaching and a supportive co-ed enrichment network.

From Oxbridge to arts, engineering to entrepreneurship, we support every ambition with care and clarity.

More Than a School:
A World of Possibility

As a proud Round Square school, we prepare pupils for life as well as exams.

Junior and Senior pupils alike take part in leadership, service and global projects that broaden perspectives and deepen empathy, helping them understand the kind of person they want to become.

One Campus. One Journey.
One Extraordinary Start.

Westfield’s philosophy is to teach the whole child and boost confidence through support and encouragement rather than pushing and pressuring.

The opportunities at Westfield are endless, I cannot recommend the school highly enough.
